Meditations from the Scriptures

I hope for you that God will speak to you through these thoughts and writings. I know God has touched me as I have read these scripture passages and written these thoughts!

One notable feature of this web site is the "Weekly Meditation". Each Sunday, I will move the previous week's Weekly Meditiation into it's normal place in the site and replace it with a new meditation. Keep checking back!

To navigate, click on the entries on the left side of the page.

  • Items beside a dot () will load a different meditation on the right side of the web page.
  • Items beside a right arrow () will expand into a list of meditations in the left side and an introduction to that set of meditations on the right side.
  • Items with a down arrow () will collapse the list and bring you back to the main page again.

Just a word about different scripture translations...

I am now using the English Standard Version as my preferred scripture translation. I believe that it is a good and accurate translation in modern English, but I am not stating my opinion on whether ESV is an improvement over other modern translations. For web sites like this one, the primary factor for choosing a translation is how to meet the copyright requirements specified by the publisher. This web site quotes too much scripture to comply with copyrights for most other modern translations, but the innovative approach taken by Good News / Crossway meets the usage needed by this web site.

The ESV is replacing the World English Bible (WEB) as the preferred translation, and I praise God for the efforts made by the volunteer publishers of the WEB to create a modern translation in the Public Domain for use in non-commercial web sites.

I encourage you to use more than one translation of the Bible as you do your studies, particularly including the NIV and NRSV translations that have become strong standard translations in our current age. Also review other current translations, like the ESV, the WEB, the New King James Version, and the New American Standard Bible, paraphrase translations like the Message and the New Living Translation, study Bibles like the Amplified Bible and Young's Literal Translation... the important part is to read, to think, to consider, and to allow God to speak to you!
